Founded by two filmmakers with a background in art and design, Petter Ringbom and Marquise Stillwell, Opendox is a New York-based production company making feature-length, short and commercial non-fiction films. Their latest feature, This World is Not My Own, uses character animation and scripted scenes to reimagine the life of the artist, Nellie Mae Rowe. The film stars Uzo Aduba as the animated version of the subject, and premiered at SXSW in 2023. Their films have also screened at festivals and venues like Tribeca, Hot Docs, IDFA, LACMA, The Smithsonian and Miami Art Basel. They’ve produced films with Institute of Design, Portland Museum of Art, AOL and Jonathan Adler.
